Biographical Sketch

Clémence Corminboeuf received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from the University of Geneva (Switzerland). She completed her master thesis in computational chemistry at the Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences (Canadian NRC, Ottawa) under the supervision of Prof. D. R. Salahub. Her efforts were distinguished by the “prix Ciba specialités chimiques” for the best Masters degree in Chemistry in 2001 at the University of Geneva. She obtained her PhD in computational/theoretical chemistry co-directed by Prof. J. Weber (University of Geneva) and Dr. T. Heine (TU-Dresden, Germany). Her PhD thesis dealt with the quantum chemical calculations of NMR parameters and, in particular, the analysis of the magnetic shielding function in pi-aromatic systems. In 2005, she broadened her experience into the computational treatment of large-scale biological systems at New York University, working with Profs. Y. Zhang and M. E. Tuckerman. In February 2006, she joined the University of Georgia (UGA, Athens, USA) as a Research Associate working with the group of Prof. P. v. R. Schleyer and Prof. R. B. King under a US collaborative NSF Grant on the general topic of aromaticity.
Clémence Corminboeuf, who has co-authored more than thirty publications, has been awarded two Swiss NSF post-doctoral fellowships. More recently, she was the awardee of the Sandoz Family Foundation which led to an appointment as assistant professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) commencing in September 2007.
