From Heathrow
By Train
- Take the Underground (Piccadilly Line) to King's Cross Railway Station (approx. 55 minutes).
- Take a train to Cambridge. Trains run twice an hour, with a journey time of roughly 1 hour.
By Bus
- If arriving at Terminal 4, go to the Coach Station. If arrving at Terminals 1, 2, or 3, go to the Central Bus Station.
- Take a bus to Cambridge Bus Station (Drummer St.). The buses run around once an hour.
From Gatwick
By Train
- Take a train from Gatwick Airport Station to King's Cross Thameslink.
- Walk to King's Cross mainline station and take the train to Cambridge. Total journey time is roughly 2 hours.
By Bus
- If arriving at South Terminal, go to the Coach Station. If arriving at the North Terminal, find the Coach stop at ground level.
- Take a bus to Cambridge Bus Station (Drummer St.). The buses run around once an hour, with a journey time of 3.5 hours.
From Stansted
By Bus
- Take a Bus from the Coach Station to Cambridge Bus Station (Drummer St.). The buses run around once an hour with a journey time of 45 minutes.

Getting to St. John's College
From Cambridge Train Station
- On foot, go down Station Road and turn right at the War Memorial into Hills Road. Go ahead, pass the Catholic
church, into Regent Street and into the city centre. The road name will change to St. Andrew's Street, and then will bear to the left at Lloyd's Bank into Sidney Street. Continue walking until you see the College Chapel and blue iron gates on your left at a junction opposite Round Church. Inquiries may be made at the Porters Lodge under the arcade at the opposite end of the court.
- The City Rail Link bus (No. 1) runs frequently during the day, but sporadically otherwise. Take it from the train station to the Emmanuel Street stop. Walk towards the Robert Sayle department store, then turn right into St. Andrew's Street. See above the for walking directions from St. Andrew's Street to the College.
- Taxi service is also available and can usually be found around the station
From Cambridge Bus Station
- On foot, walk through the Bradwells Court shopping arcade, and at the end turn right into St. Andrew's Street. At Lloyd's Bank, bear left into Sidney Street. Continue walking until you see the College Chapel and blue iron gates on your left at a junction opposite Round Church. Inquiries may be made at the Porters Lodge under the arcade at the opposite end of the court.
- Some bus services terminate in Emmanuel Street, adjacent to the Bus Station. Walk towards the Robert Sayle department store along Emmanuel Street, then turn right into St. Andrew's Street and proceed as above
