Dr. Yamaguchi's Friendly Tips in Writing a Scientific Paper
- Start writing the paper when you begin to set up the input file(s), or when you decide to do the investigation
- Start writing the paper from the part that is easiest for you.
- Fill in the spaces in the table(s) whenever the result(s) become(s) available.
- Keep all final outputs involving:
- optimized geometries
- harmonic vibrational frequencies
- IR intensities
- dipole moments
- etc.
until the paper is published
- Check all information appearing in the paper at least three times. If you have a coauthor, have them check information over.
- information above
- basis sets description
- number CSF's
- C1 value
- t1 value
- Try to work on multiple projects, if possible.
